Hindipiri area of Ranchi district wore a deserted look on Sunday, with police barricading almost at all entry and exit points of the area.

Ranchi district administration has completely sealed Hindpiri and declared it a containment zone after eight cases of coronavirus positive emerged from the area.

The security has been tightened in this area after eight people were found to be infected with the deadly virus.

According to the data compiled by Union Health Ministry, Jharkhand so far has recorded 17 cases of COVID-19 with one death reported.

The tally of the country's novel coronavirus cases increased to 8356 on Sunday. Of these, 716 have been cured and discharged, and 273 have succumbed to the virus.
