Pune district reported highest jump in a 24-hour period with 1,999 coronavirus cases on Friday, taking the case count to 26,143, a health official said here.

The death toll went up by 16 to 822, he added.

619 patients were also discharged from the hospitals upon recovery during the day.

Of the 1,199 cases, Pune city accounted for 761 cases, and it now has 19,172 cases, he said.
