Patna, May 19 Leader of the Opposition and RJD National Executive President Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the Bihar government led by Samrat Choudhary, alleging a complete failure in ensuring women’s safety in the state.

Addressing the media at his official residence in Patna, Yadav said that even after over a month since the formation of the new government, incidents of crimes against women—including rape, murder, and assault—continue unabated.

“It has been more than a month, but the administration has utterly failed to control crimes against women. There is a noticeable rise in incidents of atrocities and rape,” Yadav alleged.

He further claimed that the government lacks seriousness in addressing women’s safety and accused it of remaining silent on critical issues affecting both women and the general public.

He described the current dispensation as a selected government and questioned its accountability.

Citing media reports, Yadav said that incidents of violence against women are being reported from various districts on a daily basis.

“There is hardly a day when such crimes are not reported. When we raise these issues, it makes those in power uncomfortable,” he said, urging citizens to demand answers from the government.

Referring to past incidents, he also raised the issue of justice in the Muzaffarpur shelter home case, asking when accountability would be ensured.

The RJD leader announced that the party would intensify its fight on issues concerning women’s safety and public welfare.

“We will raise these matters from the Assembly to the streets,” he said, signalling a statewide agitation.

Apart from law and order, Yadav also raised concerns about women’s health and welfare.

He claimed that a large percentage of women in Bihar suffer from anaemia and are not receiving adequate nutrition.

He also alleged irregularities in welfare schemes, stating that promises made to women—such as financial assistance—have not been fulfilled.

He criticised the government for what he termed as tokenism in the name of women’s empowerment.

Yadav accused the government of focusing on optics over governance, calling it a photoshoot government.

He questioned the utilisation of public funds and demanded clarity on development works and policy implementation.

Several party leaders and members of the RJD women’s wing were present during the address.
