TN: Vijay plans Velankanni and Nagore visits ahead of results, continues multi-faith tour​

Chennai, April 30 With just days left for the Tamil Nadu Assembly election results on May 4, actor-politician Joseph Vijay is set to continue his spiritual outreach with planned visits to key religious centres across faiths.​

According to sources, Vijay is expected to visit the renowned Velankanni Basilica on May 2, followed by a trip to the historic Nagore Dargah. The two pilgrimage sites, associated with Christianity and Islam respectively, underline a broader multi-faith dimension to his ongoing spiritual journey.​

There are also indications that he may include visits to Navagraha temples, though no official confirmation has been issued so far.​

The planned visits come amid heightened political anticipation, with the state awaiting a closely watched electoral verdict. Vijay, who made his electoral debut with his party in this Assembly election, has emerged as a significant player in a multi-cornered contest.​

Earlier this week, Vijay began his spiritual tour with a visit to the revered Tiruchendur Murugan Temple, one of the six abodes of Lord Murugan. He participated in the ‘Viswaroopa Darshan’ soon after the temple opened and offered prayers at several shrines within the complex, including those dedicated to Shanmugar, Valli, Deivanai, Dakshinamurthy, and Perumal.​

Temple priests accorded him a traditional ‘Poorna Kumbha’ welcome and presented ceremonial offerings.​

He later travelled to Maharashtra and offered prayers at the Shirdi Sai Baba Temple. Vijay flew from Chennai in a private aircraft, completed the darshan, and returned the same evening.​

The timing of Vijay’s spiritual itinerary has drawn considerable attention, coming as it does in the final days before vote counting. Political observers see the multi-faith nature of the visits as a symbolic message of communal harmony, while also reflecting an effort to connect with diverse sections of the electorate.​
