DEORIA, UTTAR PRADESH - A father threw his 5-year-old son from the second floor of a medical college in Deoria on Sunday morning, but the child was saved by a passerby who caught him in his arms.

According to reports, Vinay Prasad, a resident of Sopri under the Gauri Bazar police station limits, had been struggling with drug addiction. His young son, who was suffering from a hernia, was admitted to Maharishi Devrah Baba Medical College.

Reports indicate that Prasad and his wife had an argument, during which Prasad took the child to a window, claiming he needed to urinate. He then threw the boy from the window. Fortunately, a man standing below managed to catch the child and prevent a tragic outcome.

Witnesses at the scene responded by beating Prasad before handing him over to the police. Dilip Singh, in-charge of Sadar Kotwali police station, confirmed that Prasad was taken into custody. However, due to a lack of formal complaint from the family, Prasad was subsequently released. The child was taken to the emergency ward for treatment.
