A 23-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by a social media friend and his two friends in a moving SUV on the Lucknow-Barabanki highway. Police arrested two people in connection with the incident for questioning on Monday, September 2.

The Instagram friend of a woman and also the prime accused, Vipin Singh, offered the woman a role in films. He asked Kanpur resident to visit Lucknow to meet a film director, reported TOI. According to the complaint, the victim reached Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh on August 28 and met Vipin at Chinhat trisection. The accused took her to his site office in an SUV on Dewa Road and introduced her to a person saying he was a film director. After meeting with the person, Vipin offered to drop the victim at Matiyari crossing near Chinhat.

Instead, the accused Vipin drove towards Barabanki highway. "His two friends, Vinam Singh and Himanshu Singh, got into the SUV. I fell unconscious after they made me smell a substance. They thrashed me before gangraping," says the FIR accessed by TOI. When she woke, she found herself in a room in Chinhat. "I saw Vipin sitting in front of me. He threatened me to keep quiet and return to Kanpur," she added.

The woman claimed she suffered injuries all over her body, including her private parts. Police are grilling Vipin and Vinam, DCP Shashank Singh said.
