UPPSC to Conduct Preliminary Exam in One Day After Students' Protest in Prayagraj

Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) will conduct the PCS Preliminary Examination in one day. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognizance of students' demands and asked the Commission to make necessary decisions by communicating and coordinating with the students within one day regarding the PCS Preliminary Examination 2024. 

The Commission for RO/ARO (Pre.) Examination-2023 has formed a committee. The committee will consider all aspects and submit its detailed report soon, informed the CMO. The decision was taken during the high-level meeting chaired by Sanjay Shri Neth, where it was decided that the exam would be held in a single day.

While addressing the protesting UPPSC aspirants, UPPSC Commission Secretary Ashok Kumar said that due to paper leak issue across the country, the Uttar Pradesh government had planned to hold exams with over 5 lakh aspirants in multiple shifts. 

"Several paper leak issues in competitive exams have came to light from different parts of the country in the past few months, in which some institutions were found to be involved. Keeping this in mind, to ensure the sanctity and transparency of competitive exams, the state govt had planned to hold exams with over 5 lakh aspirants in multiple shifts," Ashok Kumar said.

"As part of this, UPPSC announced to PCS Pre exam 2024, proposed to be held in December, and Assistant Review Officer Pre exam 2023, in multiple shifts. Over the past few days, the demand raised by some students was taken into cognisance by the CM. He directed the Commission to maintain dialogue with the students and take a decision. The Commission will hold the exam in single shift," he added further.

"PCS exam will be conducted as it was used to be conducted. The RO/ARO exam has been cancelled...But our demand is we want notice of that also and till there will be no notice on the website, we will continue to protest..."

BJP MP Dinesh Sharma said, "This is a big step taken by the CM in student's interest...Opposition always finds issues to do politics... A committee has been formed by the Commission for RO/ARO (Pre.) Examination-2023. The committee will consider all aspects and submit its detailed report soon..."
