Navi Mumbai: The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has formed a dedicated task force to ensure regular cleaning of the Sion-Panvel Highway, railway stations, and industrial zones in coordination with relevant authorities. This initiative aims to enhance cleanliness across key areas of the city.

The Sion-Panvel Highway, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Maharashtra Public Works Department, experiences heavy vehicular traffic, including trucks transporting construction materials. To address the challenge of maintaining cleanliness, intensive cleaning campaigns are being conducted along both sides of the highway. Additionally, a special monitoring team has been appointed to oversee the area and work closely with public works officials to ensure consistent upkeep.

Similarly, 12 railway stations in Navi Mumbai, which fall under CIDCO’s jurisdiction, experience high footfall daily. The NMMC’s cleanliness task force has been instructed to work closely with CIDCO officials to ensure these stations and their surroundings remain clean.

In addition, Dr. Shinde has emphasized the need for better waste management in MIDC industrial areas, where illegal dumping of debris at night has been a growing concern. Anti-debris squads will be made more active, and officials have been directed to collaborate with MIDC to keep the area clean.

The NMMC has urged cooperation from all authorities, including the Public Works Department, CIDCO, Railways, and MIDC, to ensure that Navi Mumbai remains one of the cleanest cities in the country.
