Cuttack (Odisha) [India], January 15 : Kho Kho Federation President, Sudhanshu Mittal, was optimistic about Kho Kho's bright future and is hopeful that the sport will soon become an "international game" after the conclusion of Ultimate Kho Kho Season 2 with Gujarat Giants emerging victorious.

The UKK Season 2 final witnessed a thrilling showdown between Gujarat Giants and Chennai Quick Guns. Gujarat Giants emerged victorious, securing their first championship title.

"Seeing the standard of the game in the finals of the Ultimate Kho Kho, I can safely say that the future of Kho Kho is very bright, and it will soon become an international game," Sudhanshu Mittal said aaccording to a UKK press release.

Gujarat Giants were crowned champions, earning a prize of Rs 1 crore, while the runners-up received Rs 50 lakh. Odisha Juggernauts secured third place with a victory over Telugu Yoddhas, earning Rs 30 lakh.

Coming to the clash, Gujarat took an early lead in the first turn with strong defense, but Chennai fought back with a dream run in the second half of the match. Although Gujarat maintained a 14-1 lead in this turn, Chennai's attacking efforts were limited.

Chennai initiated a powerplay in their turn to attack, but Gujarat's defenders secured three crucial points, leading to a score of 17-3. Chennai made a comeback with an impressive defensive performance.

Suyash from Chennai executed two dream runs, placing his team in a commanding position. This inning lasted for 5.04 minutes. Gujarat solidified their lead with a score of 19-7.

In the final turn, Chennai's attacking trio eliminated three of Gujarat's defenders in 1.14 minutes, reviving hopes of a comeback. The score was 16-29, and Chennai initiated a powerplay to close the gap to 22-29 within two minutes.

With 3.42 minutes remaining, Chennai aimed to close the gap further but fell short. Sanket from Gujarat continued his dream run ultimately securing Gujarat's victory with a score of 31-26.
