After a disappointing outing at the 2016 Rio Olympics, Deepika Kumari will be hungry to make amends this time around. One of the reasons why she is India's biggest medal prospect is because she recently became the first Indian to win three individual women’s recurve gold medals at the Archery World Cup in Guatemala City in April. Archery is one event where India is yet to win a medal at the Olympics. However, this time around, the country is confident of its archery contingent.

Deepika Kumari is the lone Indian participant in the women's individual event. After winning gold at the World Cup in Paris, Deepika has emerged as a medal favourite. Deepika Kumari shot to fame with her performances at the 2010 Commonwealth Games hosted in Delhi. She won two gold medals, in the individual and the women's team event. Kumari also helped her team win bronze in the Team Recurve event at the 2010 Asian Games.
