Monte Carlo [Monaco], June 2 : The only American team in Formula 1, Hass, is struggling to score points this season even after changes in their driver lineup from last year. Hass entered with high hopes for Monaco GP but was disappointed as both their drivers finished scoring zero points for the team.

Kevin Magnussen has reacted to his poor performance at the Monaco GP. Magnussen was forced to retire the car after hitting the barriers, his early success in the race was undone when he gambled on making it into the points.

As rains arrived, he stayed out on slick(less grip) tyres longer than anyone else, resulting in several slides and ultimately a crash into the barriers. "We tried... We tried everything," said Magnussen as per Formula 1.

"We tried to do the opposite to everyone and it didn't work out. I think initially in the dry it was looking interesting, but then when the wet [weather] came, I stayed out,"

The Hass driver was counting on a crash or a safety car to buy some time to bridge the gap and score some points for his team as well as himself.

"[I was] hoping for a red flag, hoping for someone to crash, either a Safety Car or a red flag. That, in my opinion, at the time at least, was a good chance of getting forward, but that didn't happen of course," Magnussen added.

After a disappointing performance at Monaco Magnussen is looking forward to the next race in the season at Barcelona.

Magnessun finished 19th after retiring his car due to a crash. "We ended up last, put the full wets on, just couldn't get them started at all, so the race was over by then. Next week is a new race [at the Spanish Grand Prix] and we'll try again," he said.

"Once you're out of the top 10, there's no reward. There's a lot of incentive to take a lot of risk when you're outside of the top 10, to try and get in there. That's what we did today and it didn't work out," he added.

Magnussen's teammate Nico Hulkenberg finished 17th having picked up a five-second time penalty for clashing with Logan Sargeant on the first lap, then another 10-second sanction due to the first not being served correctly.
