Toxic gas leak at LG Polymers near Visakhapatnam kills at least 8; hundreds fall ill

A sudden chemical gas leak in the LG Polymer Industry in Venkatapuram village led to a major accident.

The accident happened on Thursday (May 7) at 3.30 am, in which 8 people have died so far. Including a child. More than 800 people have been hospitalized.

According to officials, the gas leak has affected villages within a five-kilometer radius of the plant.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy about the situation in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. He assured all possible help and cooperation.
