Budget 2023: Big push for agri digital infra, co-ops, organic farming

Nirmala Sitharaman has announced that she will start digital training for farmers. The finance minister said the Shree Anna Yojana has been launched to increase the quantity of foodgrains. Sitharaman also said that along with this, repository capacity will be increased for the agriculture sector, and an Indian Millets Institute will be set up.

An announcement has been made by the finance minister to give free grain for the following year. In the 2023 budget, the finance minister has made many announcements for farmers. The Finance Minister announced in the budget speech that the central government is bearing the entire cost of about Rs 2 lakh crore under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana to provide free food grains to all Antyodaya and priority families for one year.

'Open source digital public infrastructure for the agriculture sector, including agriculture inputs, credit, insurance, crop protection, agricultural accelerator funds, and agricultural startups, will create huge opportunities for the focus sector. More than 65% of our population lives in rural areas, and about 45% of the population is dependent on agriculture.

The launch of a cotton crop scheme by the central government will strengthen the textile sector. Opportunities to increase exports for food security and the agriculture sector will offset the current account deficit.
