India makes Type-C cable chargers a standard for all electronic devices

The discussion of declaring the Type-C port as a common charger has been going on for the past few days. Now the Central Government has taken an important decision in this regard and has fixed Type-C cable as a standard cable. Type-c charging cable for mobile phones, laptops, notebooks and other electronics.

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has announced that Type-C will be the standard for smartphones and electronic devices sold in India. This decision will reduce the number of chargers and people will be able to charge multiple devices with a single charger.

BIS in its statement also mentioned that India is making efforts to reduce its e-waste and this decision will help it.

Earlier, consumers had to buy different chargers for different electronic devices. Due to this, customers also had to spend extra. E-waste was also increasing. There were many other problems as well.

According to the information mentioned in the report, different decisions are being taken all over the world to solve this problem. In December 2022, Consumer Affairs Secretary Rohit Kumar claimed that companies are now making USB Type-C charging ports for smartphones, tablets and laptops.

BIS has declared Type C charger as standard cable. Earlier, the European Union has also passed an order to make Type-C cable mandatory.

According to Rohit Singh, in the European Union's 2024 timeline, common charging ports can be used in such a way that both industry and consumers can easily use them.

Currently, different charging ports are used to charge phones, tablets and laptops. iPhone and many other Android phones also have different ports. But after this decision, all the companies will have to provide Type-C charging port in their devices.
