Delhi has already seen 'khoon ki holi,' says Congress
New Delhi, March 4 The Congress has stepped up its demand for a discussion on Delhi riots in the Lok Sabha even though the government has promised such a debate after Holi.
"We have already seen khoon-ki-Holi (bloodbath) in Delhi," said Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Congress floor leader in the Lok Sabha.
"We will not leave this issue (Delhi riots) and will continue to demand the resignation of the Home Minister," said Chowdhury.
The Congress made it clear on Wednesday that it would not allow the Lok Sabha to function until the government allows a debate on Delhi riots.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday led a team of party MPs to riot-hit areas and saw schools damaged by the rioters. The Congress team also met the affected families.
"We have been demanding an open debate on Delhi violence for the last three days inside Parliament. We want to know who is behind the violence, what was the reason that led to the killing of around 50 people," said party MP Syed Naseer Hussain while talking to media in the Parliament premises.
