Congress leader Rahul Gandhi mourned the sad demise of actor Irrfan Khan. The Maqbool actor died today at Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. Irrfan was admitted yesterday in ICU due to colon infection. Taking to his Twitter Rahul Gandhi wrote, I’m sorry to hear about the passing of Irrfan Khan. A versatile & talented actor, he was a popular Indian brand ambassador on the global film & tv stage. He will be greatly missed. My condolences to his family, friends & fans at this time of grief.

Irrfan's  last Hindi film was Angrezi Medium, which released on March 13 this year. But due to ill health, Irrfan did not promote the film.Shoojit Sircar, Sonam Kapoor, Taapsee Pannu and many other celebrities offered their condolences on social media.Irrfan is survived by his wife Sutapa and sons Babil and Ayan. Irrfan was also globally recognised for his performance in films like 'Slumdog Millionaire', 'Inferno' and 'Life of Pi'.
