Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K. Palaniswami on Saturday said the state was returning to normalcy step-by-step ahead of industrialised Gujarat and Maharashtra.

Speaking at "Luminous Tamil Nadu", a virtual seminar organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Palaniswami cited a report by Elara Securities to say the state was moving towards normalcy.

According to the report, he said Tamil Nadu was one of the five states in the forefront for the country's economic revival.

Palaniswami said the government was trying to attract investment from multinational companies that might relocate from some other country due to Covid-19. The government would further simplify the procedures for getting permissions, he added.

He also urged the industries to use the local workers as the migrant labourers had returned to their home states.
