Former President and Congress stalwart, Pranab Mukherjee has passed away after undergoing treatment for nearly three weeks. Earlier today, the hospital issued a statement saying that the former President’s health had worsened and he was in septic shock due to lung infection.On August 10, Mukherjee was admitted to the hospital after testing positive for Covid-19, after which he underwent a surgery following the detection of a brain clot.After a long political career in which he held several top posts including that of Finance and Defence Minister, Mukherjee became President in 2012 and served till 2017. Soon after the news of his demise was confirmed a number of political leaders took to Twitter to offer their condolences.
