Local fire and police authorities responded promptly after receiving calls from residents. Fire tenders reached the site quickly and battled the flames for several hours before bringing the fire under control. Officials noted that the warehouse, being completely sealed, posed significant challenges. All six shutters had turned hot due to the intense heat, and inside, 50 to 60 oil drums heightened the risk of a potential explosion. Firefighters had to carefully open each shutter individually to safely enter and extinguish the blaze, ultimately preventing further damage to nearby structures.
A Firefighter told IANS, "At around 04:45 AM, we received a call from the main station that a grocery shop was on fire, and the fire engine was immediately dispatched. Upon arrival, we saw that the entire grocery shop was ablaze. The shop had six shutters, all locked, and the fire had spread completely, causing severe heat and damage."

Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported. The precise cause of the fire remains under investigation. This incident comes days after a fire broke out at Shaniwar Wada on March 12, fueled by dry wood and accumulated garbage, and another on Sunday at a scrap shop in Rupi Nagar, Nigdi, Pimpri-Chinchwad. Rising fire incidents have prompted authorities to urge warehouse and commercial property owners to strengthen safety measures. Officials recommend functional fire extinguishers, regular safety audits, and strict adherence to fire safety protocols to prevent such disasters in the future.
