In a shocking case of workplace violence, 28-year-old Shubhada Shankar Kodare, an accountant at WNS Global Services in Yerwada, was fatally attacked with a chopper by her male colleague, Krishna, on January 7. The motive behind the murder has been revealed—Shubhada had borrowed Rs 4 lakh from Krishna, claiming her father needed money for treatment of his high sugar levels. However, Krishna grew suspicious and, upon visiting her father in Karad, learned there was no such surgery or medical need. Feeling betrayed, Krishna confronted Shubhada, leading to a violent argument. In a fit of rage, he inflicted a severe wound on her arm, causing massive bleeding. Due to her low sugar condition, she died from blood loss and cardiac arrest.

Shubhada Shankar Kodare (28), a resident of Balaji Nagar, Katraj, was found murdered in the parking lot of WNS Global Services in Yerwada on Tuesday evening. The accused, Krishna Satyanarayan Kanoja (28), a resident of Khairewadi, Shivaji Nagar, has been arrested in connection with the crime. Shubhada's sister, Sadhana Shankar Kodare (26), a resident of Jagdamba Building, Kalewadi Phata, Pimpri Chinchwad, has filed a complaint with the Yerwada police.

Shubhada and her sister Sadhana, both IT professionals, lived in different parts of Pune, though they were originally from Karad. Shubhada and Krishna had known each other since 2022, both working at WNS Global Services, albeit in different departments. Shubhada had claimed her father’s diabetic condition required money for treatment and had borrowed Rs 25,000 and Rs 50,000 from Krishna, later accumulating Rs 4 lakh in total. Despite her own low sugar condition, which had delayed her marriage, Shubhada continued to ask Krishna for money without repaying him. Suspicious of her, Krishna confronted her in the company parking lot, intending to threaten her over the betrayal.

During a heated argument, Krishna stabbed Shubhada 4-5 times in the arm, causing severe damage to the veins in her hand. Despite being rushed to a private hospital, Shubhada suffered massive bleeding and ultimately died from a cardiac arrest. Krishna Kanoja admitted to the crime in his statement after his arrest. The police have not yet heard statements from Shubhada or her relatives, as she passed away from the injuries.
