Pune Power Outage: Technical Failure at Bhosari Substation Disrupts Life in Pimpri-Chinchwad

Pimpri-Chinchwad: Bhosari and Pimpri divisions faced major power outages due to fault in an 80 MVA the extra-high-voltage transformer at Mahatransco’s 220 kV. This problem has affected thousands of residents and over 500 businesses in Pimpri-Chinchwad. This power disruption began on late Sunday night at around 11:10 pm and has halted industrial production and thrown normal life out of gear for local citizens.

MSEDCL has taken emergency measures to restore power supply while appealing to the public for their cooperation during the crisis. A technical failure impacted the 80 MVA power load, affecting a large area with residential and commercial centers. The most affected industrial sectors are in Bhosari MIDC, including S-Block, J-Block, D-2 Block, F-2 Block, and T-Block.

Significant electricity fluctuations and outages have affected residential areas including Indrayani Nagar, Bhosari Gaon, Jal Vayu Vihar, Gandharva Nagari, Sectors 4 and 6, Nehru Nagar, Sant Tukaram Nagar, Dapodi, and Kasarwadi.  MSEDCL officials are working to stabilize the grid by diverting power load. According to FPJ report, while partial supply was restored to some sectors by shifting the load, officials warned that these alternate circuits could experience further interruptions due to the added burden.

Following a similar internal fault on February 2nd in the same 80 MVA transformer, requiring repeated emergency restoration, MSEDCL is asking consumers to use electricity sparingly until the transformer is fully repaired or replaced due to the recurring instability. MSEDCL regrets the inconvenience and assures that technical teams are working to find a permanent solution to the frequent equipment failures at the Bhosari facility.
