Dhankawadi: A security guard posted at Panhala Hostel within the Sinhagad Campus committed suicide by hanging himself after not receiving his salary for 18 months. The incident occurred on Wednesday May 13th around 3:30 PM. The deceased security guard has been identified as Samir Madhav Dabholkar. The deceased served as a security guard at the Sinhagad Campus. He had been under severe stress due to the non-payment of his salary for the past 18 months. Preliminary information suggests that he took the extreme step of suicide driven by financial distress.
Significantly, prior to taking his own life, Samir Dabholkar recorded a video on his mobile phone in which he articulated his plight. Reports indicate that in this video, he stated that the delay in salary payments had caused him immense mental and financial stress. News of the incident sent shockwaves through the area. A case regarding this matter has been registered at the Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station, and the police are currently conducting further investigations.
Speaking to Lokmat, Shailesh Pawar a relative of Samir Dabholkar confirmed that the deceased had not received his salary for 18 months. Asserting that Dabholkar took this extreme step as a result of that stress, Pawar has demanded that a criminal case be registered against the individuals responsible. Meanwhile, Senior Police Inspector Rahul Khilare of the Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station stated that the statements of the relatives are being recorded, and further legal action is being initiated.
