Pune Shocker: Liquor Bottles, Cigarette Packets Found in SPPU Girls' Hostel

A large number of liquor bottles and cigarette packets were discovered in the girls' hostel of Savitribai Phule Pune University. Photos and videos of the irregularities have gone viral on social media. Student organizations are now calling for an inquiry and strict action.

A student residing in the hostel alleged that despite making repeated complaints, the hostel authorities took no action. Questions have been raised about security lapses, especially how large quantities of alcohol and other intoxicants are getting into the hostel despite the biometric security system at the gate. There are suspicions that hostel staff might be involved in facilitating the entry of these items.

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has called for a formal inquiry into the matter. The student organization is demanding strict action against those responsible, including the suspension of hostel staff who ignored complaints. ABVP has warned that protests will follow if the administration does not take immediate action.

This incident comes amid a series of controversies at the university over the past year, including the discovery of marijuana in the boys' hostel and the illegal sale of tobacco on campus.
