Pune: A tragic incident linked to the ongoing heatwave has been reported from Nimgaon Sava in Junnar, where a 40-year-old woman lost her life due to suspected heatstroke while working in her field. The deceased has been identified as Smt. Rupali Gadge, a resident of the Gavmala/Madimala area. According to reports, she was engaged in routine weeding work on Monday, April 27. Around 11:45 AM, when temperatures were at their peak, she suddenly started feeling unwell and collapsed in the field.
Despite efforts to provide immediate help, she passed away before assistance could arrive. Her sudden demise has left the entire village in shock, with the Gadge family mourning the loss of a hardworking and devoted member. The late Rupali Gadge is survived by her husband, children, and an extended family. Her final rites are scheduled to be performed this evening at 5:30 PM on the banks of the Kukadi River in Nimgaon Sava.
In light of this incident, the local administration and the Health Department have issued an appeal urging citizens to remain vigilant. Given the rising temperatures, farmers and manual laborers, in particular, have been advised to refrain from strenuous physical work between 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM. Guidelines have been issued recommending that individuals carry water, lemon juice, or buttermilk with them to their workplaces, and cover their heads with a handkerchief or a cap while working.
