Mumbai: Idli Vendor Near Dadar Railway Station Accused Of Using Water Stored Near Public Toilet; Viral Video Raises Food Hygiene Concerns

A video allegedly showing an idli vendor collecting water stored near a public toilet has gone viral on social media, triggering street food hygiene in Mumbai. 

The video, which was shared from an Instagram account named @gupta.krishna196, claimed that a food vendor selling Idlis outside the Dadar Railway Station in Mumbai has used toilet water. In a viral reel, the vendor is seen walking and filling a blue bucket from a white container placed near a toilet area.

The busy Dadar railway station area is always a bustling market. Several vendors outside the railway station can be seen selling different items, especially in the morning and evening. Street food in the city always attracts passersby and office goers. Several food stalls around Dadar station are known for serving breakfast items such as idli, vada pav and dosa to large crowds every morning.

However, the viral video has sparked anger among social media users, many of whom questioned the cleanliness standards followed by roadside vendors. Several users demanded strict action from civic authorities against vendors found violating food safety norms.

The authenticity of the video and the source of the water used by the vendor have not yet been officially verified. Authorities are yet to issue a statement regarding the incident.
