Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website and mobile application were not working on Tuesday, August 13, for online ticket bookers and travellers. According to the users, after all the procedures, they are unable to receive or view tickets on the screen. Some users are also facing a technical issue affecting payment.
According to the tracking website Downdetector.com, many users face issues accessing IRCTC website an mobile app. The tracking website indicated that over 350 users face problems using IRCTC online ticketing services.
The Downdetector reported that the booking services began experiencing technical issues around 1:09 AM to 11:09 AM on Tuesday. Approximately more than 300 users had issues accessing the website and application.
A user tagging IRCTC official Twitter handle on X, said that he tried booking ticket from IRCTC website from Chandlodiya (CLDY) to Keshod (KSD) and completed the payment procedures, but ticket was not booked. Dev Patel also shared a screen grab of his mobile phone.
However, IRTC, in its reply, said that the amount deducted would be refunded within 5 to 6 working days. "Sir, You will be charged for booked ticket only. The amount deducted will revert back within 05 to 06 working days. Please refer to your booked ticket history and failed ticket history under My Transaction," IRCTC wrote on X.
Another user shared its frustration on social media site X, while tagging Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. User name @Nickcook94221 wrote, "@AshwiniVaishnaw Sir, you talk about fast trains and bullet trains in India. Firstly fix your IRCTC website which keeps going down. How do you expect common people to book tickets when your website is mostly down. Only agents are able to book tickets."
Lakshya Kothari, a user, also faced the same issue of tickets not appearing or receiving after completing procedures like payment and contact details. X user @lakshya_ko99147, reported, "Hi @IRCTCofficial and @Paytm, Today at 11:12 I tried to book a ticket from @Paytm today from Gurgaon (GGN) to Bikaner (BKN) and used @PhonePe for payment. Even after a successful payment my ticket was not booked on @Paytm. @IRCTCofficial look into the matter and refund money."
However, there is no official statement from the IRCTC about the technical issue or glitch on its web and mobile app.
