Thane Fire: 29 Two-Wheelers Gutted in Early Morning Blaze at Dombivli Residential Complex

A massive fire broke out in the early hours of Sunday at Raj Apartment in Ravikiran Society, located in Cheda Nagar, Dombivli East. The blaze erupted around 4:15 am in the basement parking area of the residential building situated near Jai Bharat School. Most residents were asleep when the incident occurred, and the fire initially went unnoticed. Within minutes, thick smoke began spreading through the structure, reaching upper floors and filling staircases and corridors. Panic spread quickly as families woke up coughing and rushed out of their homes to escape the suffocating fumes in the building.

The flames rapidly engulfed the tightly parked two wheelers in the basement, intensifying the situation. According to officials, as many as 29 motorcycles and scooters were completely destroyed in the incident, reduced to charred remains. Residents reported hearing crackling sounds before dense smoke started seeping into their flats. Many occupants fled in darkness and confusion, gathering in the open compound outside the society. The sudden escalation of the fire created an atmosphere of fear and chaos, as families helplessly watched flames rising from the parking area and worried about the safety of their homes.

Five residents sustained injuries due to smoke inhalation and minor burns during the commotion. They were immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital for medical attention, and their condition is reported to be stable. Upon receiving information about the blaze, the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation fire brigade promptly reached the spot with necessary equipment and personnel. Firefighters worked tirelessly for a considerable period before successfully bringing the fire under control. Their swift action prevented the flames from spreading further and averted a major tragedy, ensuring there was no loss of life in the incident.

Although the structural integrity of the building remains intact, the basement parking area suffered extensive damage. Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire. Preliminary suspicion points towards a possible short circuit or technical malfunction in one of the parked vehicles, but officials have not confirmed the reason yet. Police and civic authorities are examining whether safety norms were adequately followed in the parking area. The incident has left residents shaken, with burnt vehicles and lingering fear serving as stark reminders of the terrifying early morning blaze.
