A fire erupted in a bedroom of a residential building in Thane West late on Monday night, according to officials from the Disaster Management Cell. The incident was reported at around 11:17 pm from the area behind Cosmos Spring at Owla Naka on Ghodbunder Road. Authorities said the blaze broke out on the first floor of Laxmi Nivas, a ground-plus-one-storey residential structure owned by Neelam Patil. Fire brigade teams immediately rushed to the location with a fire engine and a rescue vehicle. Personnel from the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) and Disaster Management Cell also joined the rescue operation at the site.

Officials confirmed that no injuries were reported in the Thane fire incident. However, several household belongings kept inside the bedroom were damaged due to the blaze. Among the affected items were an indoor air-conditioning unit, a bed, cupboard, television set, and electrical wiring installed in the room. Firefighters worked swiftly to stop the flames from spreading to nearby areas of the building. Authorities stated that the fire was successfully brought under control before midnight and was completely extinguished by approximately 12:05 am. Officials are yet to determine the exact reason behind the incident, while further assessment of the damage is underway.

In another fire-related incident, one person suffered burn injuries after a blaze broke out at a commercial establishment in Wadala East during the early hours of Monday, May 4. According to the Mumbai Fire Brigade, the incident was reported at around 1:34 am from a structure situated on Salt Pan Road in Sangam Nagar near a mobile shop. Firefighters who reached the location found that the flames were initially confined to a hair-cutting salon on the ground floor. The fire damaged electrical wiring, installations, salon equipment, and other materials stored inside the unit. Authorities later classified the incident as a level-1 fire.

Officials said the flames later spread to an adjoining garment manufacturing unit located at the rear side of the premises. The fire caused damage to sewing machines, cloth rolls, furniture, and raw materials stored on the ground and mezzanine levels of the ground-plus-two-storey building. Fire brigade personnel continued cooling and containment operations for several hours before fully extinguishing the blaze by 6:00 am. A 65-year-old man identified as Mohd Umar sustained nearly 8 to 9 per cent burn injuries and was admitted to Lokmanya Tilak Municipal General Hospital, where doctors confirmed that his condition remained stable. Authorities suspect an electrical fault may have triggered the fire.
