A car was completely destroyed after catching fire near the Kalika Mata Temple at Teen Hath Naka on the Mumbai-Nashik Highway in Thane (West) late on Saturday night, according to officials. The incident was reported to the Disaster Management Cell at approximately 11:54 pm. As per the Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) of the Thane Municipal Corporation, the car owner was driving alone from Powai to Kolshet when he noticed flames emerging from the vehicle. Acting swiftly, he pulled over to the roadside and exited the car safely, avoiding any injuries in the frightening incident.

Authorities confirmed that no casualties were reported in the incident. Soon after receiving the alert, multiple emergency response teams rushed to the location. These included police personnel, fire brigade units equipped with a fire engine and rescue vehicle, as well as disaster management staff arriving with a pickup vehicle. Officials stated that the intensity of the fire was severe, leading to the complete destruction of the car and causing extensive damage. The quick coordination among various agencies ensured that the situation did not escalate further or pose a threat to nearby commuters and structures.

Firefighters and disaster management teams worked efficiently to contain the blaze and successfully brought it under control by around 12:10 am. Officials noted that their prompt response helped prevent the fire from spreading and ensured the safety of the surrounding area. The situation was stabilised shortly after the flames were extinguished, and traffic movement in the area was managed without major disruption. Authorities are yet to determine the exact cause of the fire, and further investigation into the incident is currently underway.

In a separate incident, a fire broke out at a sweet shop in Thane district on Friday morning, civic officials said, adding that no injuries were reported. The incident took place at a shop located in Ashar Metro Tower near MRR Children’s Hospital in the Vartak Nagar area of Thane (West). The blaze was reported to the disaster management control room at around 9:18 am, prompting an immediate response from emergency services that were dispatched to the scene without delay.

Preliminary findings suggest that the fire originated from an inverter battery placed on a loft inside the shop. The flames quickly spread to nearby materials, including electrical wiring, cardboard items and a wooden cupboard, increasing the intensity of the blaze. Teams from the fire brigade, disaster management unit, local police and the electricity department reached the spot and initiated firefighting operations. Using appropriate equipment and coordinated efforts, the firefighters managed to control the situation effectively.

Officials confirmed that while no one was injured, the fire caused significant damage to property within the shop. Items such as the inverter battery, electrical installations and other materials were affected due to the blaze. With joint efforts from the fire brigade and disaster management teams, the fire was completely extinguished, and the situation was brought under full control. Authorities stated that conditions are now stable, and further assessment of the damage is being carried out.
