Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
The AI-based app launched by the state Department of Agriculture (DoA) to make farming easier and more profitable with the help of modern technology is receiving an overwhelming response in Phulambri tehsil. As many as 13,000 farmers in the tehsil have downloaded the app, enabling them to access agricultural information with just a single click.
One of the app’s biggest features is that if crops are affected by pests or diseases, farmers can upload photographs through the app. They immediately receive information about the disease, its causes, and effective remedial measures. This has reduced the need for farmers to repeatedly visit agricultural offices and has made timely treatment possible.
Meanwhile, the DoA is conducting awareness campaigns from village to village to promote digital literacy. Officials expect that more farmers from the tehsil will join the initiative in the future.
Information on market prices and fertiliser management available
The app also provides guidance on suitable crops based on soil type, climatic conditions, and available water resources. In addition, important information regarding cultivation practices from sowing to harvesting, fertiliser management, irrigation methods, and market prices is provided through SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures). Young farmers in rural areas are using this technology to plan farming activities more accurately.
The tehsil agriculture officer Pankaj Wakale said, “There are 57,000 farmers in Phulambri tehsil, of whom 13,000 have downloaded this app. Since technical agricultural information is now available from home, it is helping farmers increase productivity while reducing costs.”
