20 consumers booked for power theft in zone

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A total of 20 people were booked with Sillod Police Station for stealing power in the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar zone by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL).

The power supply of the consumers- Kadir Jahagirkha Pathan, Gaffar Rehman Bamnawat, Yasim Khan Ismail Khan Sukede, Akhtar Khan Sharif Khan Jonwal, Sajed Khan Mastankhan Golwal, Hasina Azizkhan Burayye, Jahurabi Rehmankha Pathan, Mastan Khan Saheb Khan Sukede and Kabalkhan Gaffar Dulot-from Janjala of Sillod tehsil was permanently disconnected for non-payment of electricity bills in the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar zone.

Even after this, they reconnected their supply illegally and caused financial loss to MSEDCL. They were given an assessment of Rs 32,630 but they failed to pay the same.

They were also booked with Sillod city police station on the complaint of Assistant Engineer Bhimrao Kadel.

In another case at Mantha tehsil of Jalna district, cases of electricity theft have been surfaced.

The consumers Sarjerao Uttamrao Shinde, Sadashiv Bhanudas Shendge, Ramkisan Madhukar Shendge, Asarabai Rambhau Vharkate, Rajaram Kisan Kale, Gajanan Uttamrao Kale, Ranjit Govindrao Shendge, Sanjay Prahladrao Dhakarge from Pangri Kh., Asaram Dhavada Chavan, Ramesh Kisan Chavan from Tokwadi Tanda and Sitaram Kisan Mule from Veergavhan were found stealing electricity.

They were given an assessment of Rs 1.87 lakh which they failed to pay. They were booked with Partur police station on the complaint of Assistant Engineer Shrikant Vaidya.

“Neighbors should not provide electricity supply to consumers whose power supply has been disconnected for dues. Otherwise, legal action will be taken,” said Pawankumar Kachhot, Chief Engineer of MSEDCL's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar zone.
