Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

A 26-year-old youth committed suicide by jumping into the basin of the Godavari River at Old Kaygaon. The incident came to light on Wednesday morning. The deceased has been identified as Akshay Santosh Shinde (Bajajnagar in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar).

It is learnt that Akshay stepped out of his home on Monday morning. When he did not return home, the relatives launched a search for him. Meanwhile, the relatives and police intensified the search, suspecting Akshay could have ended his life in the river basin since Tuesday. However, no clue was found till the evening. On Wednesday at 9 am, Akshay’s body was found floating in the water. The members of the local Jeevanrakshak Dal fished out his body from the water and rushed to the sub-district hospital in Gangapur in an ambulance with the help of police. The body was later handed over to the relatives after performing the post-mortem.

Akshay leaves behind a family comprising his parents and wife. Gangapur police have registered a case of accidental death. Further investigation is underway by beat marshal Vijay Pakhare.
