Aurangabad, June 6:

The crime branch police arrested two smugglers after chasing an Innova car and seized 37.300 kgs Marijuana amounting Rs 1,86,500 from them. Two more smugglers in the car managed to flee away. The incident occurred on the road between Beed By-pass and Airport old road on Sunday at around 5.30 am. The arrested have been identified as Shrikant Laxman Bansode (31) and Jaggannath Shrimant Late (36, both residents of Chaudhary Colony, Chikalthana). Two of their accomplices Sunny and Bhikan Kaduba Rithe (both residents of Bazattal, Chikalthana) managed to flee away from the spot.

PSI Amol Deshmukh and his team while on patrolling at night received the information from the informer that Shrikant Bansode and his accomplices are bring Marijuana in Innova car (MH 20 AA 4413) from Andhra Pradesh. Accordingly, PSI Deshmukh, ASI Nandkumar Bhandare, constable Omprakash Bankar, Viresh Bane, Nitin Deshmukh, Dadasaheb Zargad and others laid a trap near Cambridge School. At around 5.30 am, they saw an Innova car coming and they tried to stop them but the car went towards the Beed By-pass direction speedily. The team chased the car and stopped the car at old Airport road. Shrikant and Jaggannath were arrested but Sunny and Bhikan managed to flee away. The police seized 37.300 grams Marijuana amounting Rs 1,86,500, Innova car and mobile phones from them. A case has been registered at the Cidco MIDC police station.
