Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A total of 54,481 students of the 4th and 7th grades appeared for scholarship examinations conducted in two sessions by the Maharashtra State Council of Examination in the city on Sunday. Nearly 5,314 students were absent.

The School Education Department confirmed that the examination was conducted smoothly across 358 centres in the district. The Department made arrangements in advance to ensure the smooth conduct of the scholarship test in the district.

Nearly 33,730 students from the 4th grade registered for the examination, while 26,203 registered for the 7th grade test. There were 188 centres for the 4th grade while 170 centres for the 7th grade.

The examination was held in two sessions. The first paper on Language and Mathematics was arranged from 11 AM to 12.30 PM, while students took the second paper of Third Language (English) and Aptitude between 2 PM to 3.30 PM. Each paper carried 75 marks.

This year, a total of 59,795 students had registered for the 4th and 7th standard examinations in the district, of whom 54,481 appeared, while the remaining 5,314 were absent. Students who secure a merit position in the results are awarded scholarships by the Government. Students of the 4th standard receive Rs 5,000 per year while 7th-grade students receive Rs 7,500 per year. The scholarship is granted for three consecutive years. Students from aided, unaided, permanently unaided, and self-financed schools are eligible for this exam.
