Aurangabad, June 12:

Around 8,000 students emerged drop-out in SSC standard in the district this year because of Covid impact.

It may be noted that 77,953 students were declared passed in 9th in the academic year 2019-20 while 73,279 students took admissions in SSC in the academic year 2020-21.

Of them, 65,011 applied for the examinations. There is a question as to where the remaining students have gone.

Educationists feel that the students emerged drop-out and the difference between passed and registered candidates is due to Covid impact on the economic and social system.

Hardly any student is declared failed from the first to eight standards in the schools.

All the students were declared passed in 9th standard in 2019-20. Despite this, 8,000 students did not submit the examinations form.

Generally, one or two students would not apply for the 10th examination from Ganori school while this time around, 17 students did not apply for the examinations. The situation is not different in other secondary schools.

Headmaster Anil Deshmukh said that students started working and parents are not paying attention towards their education. The loss of connectivity of students from school is another reason.

Education officer Dr B B Chavan said there are many reasons of students drop out of school.

Educationist Anil Deshmukh said that a total of 17 students from Ganori have not applied for the SSC examinations.

“Such students are searching for jobs. Parents cannot pay attention to their children’s education. This is mostly happening in rural areas than the city,” he added.
