Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: An 81-year-old man, Bhaginath Jagannath Bhalerao, was fatally struck by an unknown vehicle on Wednesday night while walking after having dinner near Khawdya Dongar area.

According to reports, Bhalerao, a resident of Siddhanath Wadgaon in Gangapur district, was on a visit to his son’s house in Kohinoor Plaza Colony. After dinner, the family went for a walk near the Dhule-Solapur highway.

An unidentified four-wheeler traveling at high speed struck Bhalerao from behind. He sustained critical injuries and was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) by locals, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The MIDC Waluj police have registered a case regarding the hit-and-run accident. The investigation is ongoing under the supervision of police inspector Krishna Shinde.
