Smiles Return to Patients' Faces

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The corridors of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) came alive once again on Saturday as nurses returned to duty, ending a four-day strike that had brought patient care to a near standstill. Nurses resumed their rounds, attended to patients, and restored the rhythm of daily hospital life in Wards that had fallen eerily quiet.

For patients and their anxious families, who had endured days of uncertainty, the sight of familiar faces in uniform brought an overwhelming sense of relief and reassurance.

The Maharashtra Government Nurses Federation went on strike from April 21, demanding the immediate issuance of a detailed notification regarding the implementation of the revised National Pension Scheme, along with various other demands.

Nurses and brothers (male nurses) affiliated with the federation rejoined duty at GMCH today. As a result, activity in the wards picked up once again, interaction with patients resumed, and most importantly, the anxiety on patients' faces faded away.

Staff also resume duty at 'Civil Hospital

Patient care services at the district hospital have also been restored smoothly. The Class IV employees of the hospital also resumed duty on Saturday, according to information provided by District Surgeon Dr Kamalakar Mudkhedkar.

44 Major, 28 Minor Surgeries

A total of 44 major surgeries and 28 minor surgeries were performed at GMCH today. Additionally, 1,030 patients were treated in the outpatient department, as informed by In-charge Medical Superintendent Dr Tapan Jakkal.
