Accept the Maratha Community’s demands or face protest

The state government must resolve the Maratha reservation issue in the ongoing legislative session and immediately address other pending demands. Otherwise, the community will be forced to launch a protest, warned Maratha reservation movement leader Manoj Jarange Patil during a press conference on Friday.

He urged Maratha legislators and MPs to raise this issue in the assembly. "If you fail to do so, the community will not spare you when you visit your constituencies," he stated. arrange Patil asserted that numerous pieces of evidence prove Marathas and Kunbis belong to the same caste, so Marathas should be given OBC certificates without exception. "It has been a year since the government issued ordinances for family lineage verification. The implementation of these notifications must be completed in this session," he appealed to the Chief Minister. He further pointed out that cases filed against Maratha reservation activists should have been withdrawn as promised, yet even after nearly two years, the cases remain unresolved. Families of youth who sacrificed their lives for the cause were promised jobs and financial aid, but these promises remain unfulfilled. Additionally, Justice Shinde Committee has not begun its work, and he demanded immediate action to ensure it does. Jarange also criticized the government’s failure to extend scholarship benefits to SEBC (Socially and Educationally Backward Class) students, leaving them to bear the full financial burden of their education. When asked about Prashant Kortkar, who was granted anticipatory bail despite allegedly insulting Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Jarange reiterated that the government protects its close allies, even if they disrespect historical figures.
