Aurangabad, April 18:

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) gave 1000 ‘Remdesivir’ injections to private hospitals of the city on Sunday for serious patients.

According to sources, the AMC purchased 10,000 injections last month from Bengaluru-based company Mylan.

Of them, 2000 were provided to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in the first phase.

The civic body claimed that it gave 4,000 injections to Meltron Hospital during the last 15 days. The administration has not made any enquiry about these injections.

Out of the total remaining, it decided to give 1000 injections to private hospitals. After the permission of the district collector, each patient will get the injection. However, before that, GMCH doctors and officers from Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) will verify whether the patient needs it or not.

It is unclear how the AMC will get expenses of injections being given to private hospitals, which will collect charges from patients.

The civic body has not cleared how much price of injection to be collected from patients. Around 2,972 patients are undergoing treatment in private hospitals of the city currently. Relatives of patients are wandering here and there to purchase the injection.
