Aurangabad, Nov 4:

The solid waste management (SWM) cell of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has chalked out an action plan to lift garbage twice in a day from the commercial markets in the city. The civic body will soon be releasing a Helpline Number in this regard. The administration also spared a separate truck to transport wild grass and building material waste in each zone office.

The decision has been taken as many houses, shops and offices had undertaken the task of cleaning their premises. Accordingly, the private contractor P Gopinath Reddy has arranged 25 additional rickshaws for the task.

The SWM cell head Nandkishore Bhombe said, " Many people are contacting AMC and are requesting to transport the wild grass and building material waste since the past couple of days. Indeed, AMC has adopted a zero-tolerance attitude in terms of garbage. The AMC will be releasing a Helpline Number. Besides, the garbage contractor is also directed to lift 100 per cent of garbage from residential areas daily in the morning."

The cleanliness drive in each ward of the city as per 10-days schedule has started from today (November 4), he said.
