If all goes well, the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) will be starting the development of nine important roads in the city, soon. The chief minister Uddhav Thackeray had performed the ''Bhoomipujan'' of 23 important roads of valuing Rs 152 crore (including Rs 50 crore roads to be developed by the civic body) to be built by three different corporations, on Saturday.
The state government had assigned the task of developing roads to AMC, Maharashtra Industries Development Corporation (MIDC) and Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC). Of the 23 roads, nine will be developed by AMC, while seven each will be by MSRDC and MIDC. Meanwhile, MSRDC and MIDC had started the works, while the AMC was waiting for financial assistance. It had received the letter of financial support in the last week. Accordingly, the CM inaugurated all the road works in a virtual form.
The AMC executive engineer Hemant Kolhe said, " The AMC will complete the process of issuing work order to the contractors in next ten days. Accordingly, the works will be started with momentum soon. Presently, the contractor has started filling up potholes on the road from Amarpreet Chowk to Ekta Chowk and will complete the task in 10 days. The key civic officers, who are monitoring the ongoing roads developed through government fund of Rs 100 crores, will keep a vigil on these nine roads, as well."
The list of roads to be concretised and tarred by AMC are as follows :
1. Tarring of the road from Wockhardt Company to Jaibhavani Chowk (Naregaon), Railway Station to Tirupati Enclave.
2. Tarring of the road from Deepali Hotel to Mukundwadi Railway Station.
3. Concretisation of the road from Pundaliknagar to Cidco N3, High Court (N-4) to Kamgar Chowk main road.
4. Concretisation of the road from Bhavani petrol pump (Cidco N2) to Thakarenagar (Cidco, N2) main road.
5. Concretisation of the road from Mahalaxmi Chowk to Lokshahi Colony.
6. Concretisation of the road from Agrasen Chowk to Central Excise Office.
7. Concretisation of the road from Jalna Road to Apex Hospital.
8. Tarring of the road from Jalna Road to Hotel Ajanta Ambassador and
9. Tarring of the road from Amarpreet Hotel Chowk to Ekta Chowk.
