Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A lift has been installed and made operational in the Phase-III building of the municipal corporation after a gap of nearly 30 years. The inauguration of the lift was performed on Thursday morning by mayor Sameer Rajurkar.

Earlier, lift installation companies had been reluctant to proceed due to the absence of building permissions and occupancy certificates. However, the administration obtained proper construction approval from the Town Planning section before installing the lift.

The event was attended by standing committee chairman Anil Makariye, House Leader Govind Kendre, municipal commissioner Amol Yedge, additional commissioners Ranjit Patil and Kalpita Pimpale, City Engineer Sanjay Kombde, and other officials.

The newly installed lift will benefit officials, staff, and citizens visiting the Phase-III building of the municipal corporation headquarters. It is expected to be particularly useful for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and visitors attending various civic works. The mayor instructed that the lift be used properly and maintained regularly.

Commissioner Amol Yedge stated that the facility would significantly ease access for citizens visiting the Mitra Kaksh, reducing the difficulty of climbing stairs.

Visit to Mitra Kaksh

The mayor, chairman, and commissioner also visited the Mitra Kaksh and Control Room on the second floor to review operations. During the visit, the Mayor spoke with a taxpayer over the phone and expressed gratitude for timely tax payment. He also noted that around 1.60 lakh citizens had not paid property tax last year and instructed officials to focus more on tax recovery from defaulters.
