API Taitwale assaulted by miscreants in Cidco, he had intervened into a quarrel

Aurangabad, Feb 1: Assistant police inspector (API) of the Aurangabad (rural) police Satyajeet Taitwale was injured seriously after a gang of 7-8 unidentified men assaulted him on the service road in the Cidco bus stand Chowk on Monday midnight.

He has been admitted to a private hospital by an auto rickshaw driver. Senior police officers on patrolling rounds and crime branch rushed to the spot soon after getting information of the incident. Police said that Taitwale was talking with a friend in front of Hotel Ramgiri when 2-3 persons indulged into a violent fighting. He intervened and tried to separate the bickering persons, but they all targeted him and sought explanation from him for intervening into their matter. Later, Taitwale left the spot and went slightly ahead and was standing on the service road from the bus stand Chowk to API Corner when the same persons with their supporters caught him there. They launched a blistering attack on him leaving his both eyes, face and legs injured. They all fled the spot in a trice. Rickshaw driver Vijay Nikalje admitted Taitwale to a private hospital in Ramnagar where he is being treated.

Assault motive not clear

The motive behind the assault on the cop is not clear. Taitwale at present is attached to the Shillegaon police station in Vaijapur tehsil. However, how and when he came to Aurangabad is also not clear. Prior to Shillegaon, he was heading the Chikalthana PS.
