Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

Panchayat Samiti (PS) chairman Kalyan Gaikwad has urged members to collect proper development work plans from gram panchayats and submit them to the PS administration before April 30, in order to accelerate rural development works using funds from the 15th Finance Commission.

For the past four years, the Panchayat Samiti had been under administrative rule, due to which the government had withheld the 15th Finance Commission funds. Recently, after general elections to the Panchayat Samiti were held, the administrative rule ended, and the government has released approximately Rs 10 crore this month.

As per rules, the funds are distributed based on the population of each Panchayat Samiti -gan. However, members are demanding equal distribution of funds across all 20 gans. Members had earlier submitted development work plans collected from their respective gram panchayats to the administration.

However, those plans were returned for revision, and some members are now submitting updated plans. “Given the deadline for utilising the received funds, it is essential to submit final and accurate plans before April 30, so that administrative approvals and work commencement orders can be issued on time and the funds can be spent within the stipulated period,” Kalyan Gaikwad clarified.
