Around 35 per cent of students attend college in district

Aurangabad, Feb 16:

After eleven months, the first, second and third-year classes of the degree course in the district started on Monday. Out of a total of 1.60 lakh students from 195 colleges in the district, the average attendance on the first day was 35 per cent. On the other hand, 50 per cent students attend colleges in the city.

The entire education sector was paralyzed from March 2020 after the outbreak of coronavirus. School-college students had to opt for online classes. But there were many difficulties. Students, mainly in rural areas, did not have access to the internet causing difficulties in virtual classes. However, the government started IX to XII classes from November 23. Due to the decline in corona, schools from class V to VIII started on January 27. However, students of degree courses were worried as no decision was being taken about starting colleges. Finally, the classes were opened on February 15. The government has directed the colleges to allow 50 per cent students to come to the college on the first day and the remaining 50 per cent to come to the college on the second day to prevent the spread of corona. Accordingly, all the rules and regulations of the government are being followed by the college administration.

No masks, no sanitizers

Colleges had instructed students to wear masks and keep sanitizers with them. But, on the first day, many students were seen without masks and sanitisers. However, many students were wearing masks while sitting in the classroom.

Taking every precaution

The S B college of science has disinfected the entire classrooms, laboratory, library and premises. The temperature and oxygen levels of every student are checked at the entrance. Most of the course of the second and third year students is nearing completion. So we are now focusing on completing the practicals of these students, said principal Dr Balaji Nagtilak.
