Aurangabad, July 23:

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) administrator A K Pandey is hopeful of getting the land for developing depot for its 100 Smart City buses in Mukundwadi, soon. Earlier, the transport minister Anil Parab has directed the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) officials to issue a no-objection certificate to AMC on priority. It may be noted that the Aurangabad Smart City Development Corporation Limited (ASCDCL) is operating 100 Smart City buses in the city for the last two years.

It may be noted that ASCDCL was searching for suitable land to develop a depot to undertake repairing and maintenance of its buses. Through AMC, it had selected the MSRTC land at Mukundwadi and was trying to get the possession for a long time. A meeting in this regard was also held in presence of the guardian minister Subhash Desai in Mumbai. The MSRTC officials had assured of granting NOC, in the meeting, but had not issued in reality.

Few days ago, the transport minister was in the city and he held a meeting in presence of the MSRTC officials and AMC administrator. During the meeting, he received the telephone call of the guardian minister Desai, saying to issue the NoC for Smart City buses. Accordingly, Parab ordered the MSRTC to issue NOC.

AMC to waive off Rs 3.5 crore

MSRTC had submitted its plans to develop a multi-storeyed modern bus stand at Mill Corner. The proposal seeking building permission was sent to the town planning section of the AMC. The MSRTC was asked to pay Rs 3.5 crore as the development charges against issuing of the building permission. The AMC is ready to waive off the charges. However, the administrator clarified that the AMC will waive off the amount on the very next day after it takes possession of land at Mukundwadi.
