A Brahmin Mahaadhiveshan (mega convention) will be organised in the city on Sunday (February 1) to deliberate on the social, educational, economic and organisational progress of the Brahmin community.

The convention will be held at the Manthan Hall of MIT College from 9.00 am to 7.00 pm. On this occasion, office-bearers of various organisations working for the Brahmin community will be felicitated with the aim of strengthening unity within the community.

Speaking at a press conference organised in this regard, reception committee chairman Sachin Wade Patil said the convention would begin with flag worship and lamp lighting. A BBIN brahmin entrepreneurs’ exhibition will also be organised as part of the event.

In the first session, entrepreneur Vivek Deshpande will guide the participants, with Bajirao Dharmadhikari presiding over the session.

Chairperson of the national commission for women, Vijaya Rahatkar, will speak on the topic ‘laws and protection under the women’s commission’. Ashish damle, chairman of the Parashuram economic development corporation; Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Mahant Sudhir Das Maharaj (Nashik); astrologer Atulshastri Bhagre; entrepreneur Shirish Boralkar; Bandhu Nana Saraf; and social activist Nikhil Laturkar will also guide the gathering on various subjects.

In the afternoon session, newly appointed corporators will be felicitated. Experts will provide guidance on topics such as organisational strengthening, the amrit scheme, issues of senior citizens, art, education, IT, ayurveda, employment and land-related matters. Office-bearers including Vijay Kaje, Santosh Joshi, Kashinath Chandjkar, Mahesh Kulkarni, Pravin Khanale and several others were present at the press conference.

Free bride–groom registration

A special feature of the convention will be the organisation of various social initiatives, including free bride and groom registration and free registration for brahmin entrepreneurs. A blood donation camp and a health camp will also be organised.
