A Rs 200-crore safari park project at Mitmita is nearing completion. Standing Committee Chairperson Anil Makariye inspected the site on Friday and directed Smart City officials to expedite the work.

Under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 20,000 trees are being planted in the park. Makariye also participated in a plantation drive and expressed satisfaction over the environmental initiative. Garden Superintendent Vijay Patil, Smart City officials Ravindra Jogdand, Sneha Nair, and Ganesh Jadhav were present. Makariye also chaired a meeting of the civic ‘Nagrik Mitra’ team, directing focus on city security, encroachments, and parking management, and stressed the need for smooth traffic flow. Later, he reviewed the health department’s work and instructed officials to start an MRI centre at affordable rates. He also took stock of issues in the department. Health Committee Chairperson Sunita Salunkhe, Medical Officer Dr Paras Mandalecha, corporator Govind Kendre, and Rajgaurav Wankhede were present.
