Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

The sun has been blazing relentlessly over the past few days, with temperatures hovering around 41°C for nearly a week. On Saturday, however, the mercury rose further to 41.8°C, marking the highest temperature of the season so far, stated the Chikalthana Meteorological Observatory. As a result, major roads across the city wore a deserted look during the afternoon hours. Tormented by the intense heat, residents largely preferred to stay indoors, stepping out only after 5 pm when the temperature began to ease.

The onset of the Vaishakh month on April 18 has already brought severe heat conditions, with citizens experiencing what is commonly referred to as the “Vaishakh heatwave.” Weather experts have indicated that temperatures are likely to rise further in the coming days.

From as early as 9 am on Saturday, the intensity of the sun was strongly felt. Being a public holiday, many people chose to avoid stepping out. Those who had to travel for essential work were seen covering their heads with scarves or wearing caps to protect themselves from the scorching sun. By noon, the heat had intensified significantly, making it clear that the temperature was above normal levels.

Juice stalls and cold beverage vendors witnessed increased footfall throughout the day. At 5 pm, the Chikalthana Observatory confirmed the day’s peak temperature at 41.8°C.
