Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
The long-pending issue of the Savitribai Phule vegetable market at Sambhaji Peth (Aurangpura) is finally moving towards resolution after 14 years. A meeting was held on Tuesday between traders and standing committee chairman Anil Makariye, during which it was informed that stall holders, shop owners, and vegetable vendors will soon be given possession of their respective units.
The vegetable market was developed by the municipal corporation on a BoT (Build-Operate-Transfer) basis. However, possession could not be handed over earlier as the building did not have an occupancy certificate.
The developer, M B Patil Constructions, has submitted an application to the Town Planning section seeking an occupancy certificate for the completed portion of the structure. The proposal has been forwarded to municipal commissioner Amol Yedge for final approval. In the meantime, Makariye held a meeting of vendors and gala-owners.
During the meeting, traders were briefed about the process, and it was informed that formal allocation and handing over of shops will take place next week. Vendors have been instructed to submit all required documents by Friday.
The meeting was attended by city engineer Sanjay Kombade, estate officer Sanjay Chamle, legal officer Aparna Thete, representative of Vikas Patil Group Atmaram Patil, along with a large number of vegetable vendors and traders.
